The Magna Carta, otherwise known as the Great Chapter, is a chapter of rights that was agreed to by King John of England on 15th June 1215 and is one of the most important documents in history – it established the principle that everyone, including the Queen, is subject to the law and ultimately formed the basis of modern democracy.
