AREA GUIDE
Only 30 minutes from Central London, Runnymede benefits from good transport links, both by rail, road and the River Thames and although mostly built-up, it enjoys an attractive mix of countryside. From woodland and grasslands to riverside meadows, interspersed with a fantastic network of footpaths that link its prominent historical memorial sites - the Magna Carta, the John F Kennedy Memorial and one to the 20,000 Royal Air Force airmen killed in WWII.
FOR SALE IN RUNNYMEDE
The Borough of Runnymede sits in the Thames flood plain between Old Windsor and Egham. With the majority of the area managed by the National Trust, in conjunction with Runnymede Borough Council, it is classed as a Site of Nature Conservation Interest (SNCI) containing a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
The towns of Addlestone, New Haw, Ottershaw and Woodham are primarily residential but are surrounded by countryside (New Haw is registered as a part-nature reserve), with excellent schools and transport links.
For New Haw and Woodham, the Broadway has an eclectic shopping parade, whilst the bigger, cosmopolitan town of Woking is nearby with a large shopping centre, multi-screen cinema, two theatres and numerous restaurants.
In 2018 Runnymede Borough Council completed an extensive regeneration project of Addlestone town centre which saw vast improvements to the facilities for local residents, including a new pedestrianised shopping avenue with boutique shops and restaurants, a community centre, cinema, Waitrose, Premier Inn, gym and a new housing complex.
