If you’ve ever found yourself pondering the aisles of your local DIY store, you have more than likely spotted a tin or two of Farrow & Ball. Known for their historical colour palettes, archives and intriguing colour names, originated in Dorset back in 1946. Local pioneers John Farrow and Richard Ball quickly discovered their passion for all things rich colours using only the finest ingredients. Following a few bumps in the road, Farrow & Ball moved to their current home near Wimbourne, where they’ve crafted paint and wallpaper ever since.
Creating a look that resonates with your personal style within your home brings about an unparalleled sense of achievement, and showcasing it to friends, family and sometimes even the internet. That’s why we’re exploring Farrow & Ball’s latest collection: Carte Blanche – handcrafted by Farrow & Ball, but bursting with Christopher John Rogers joy. Exquisitely fashioned but far from restrictive, the collection guarantees elevated exuberance for your home.
This September, premium paint and wallpaper maker Farrow & Ball is partnering with celebrated fashion designer Christopher John Rogers to launch Carte Blanche — a capsule collection of pattern and colour.
Through Carte Blanche, Farrow & Ball brings Rogers’ distinctive flair and unmistakable joy to the word of interiors. A foundation of four neutrals, eight statement shades and three playful wallpaper prints, this palette of handcrafted paint and paper places the emphasis on expressive, individual style.
Inspired by cherished memories of food and family, the 12 new paint shades range from vivid blue to verdant green, cheerful pink to structural neutrals. The result is a colour palette of elevated exuberance. For the first time, the collection also includes three new wallpaper patterns centred around playing with shape, each available in three Carte Blanche colourways. Exquisitely fashioned but far from restrictive, the elements can be effortlessly combined with endless possibilities.
Charlotte Cosby, Creative Director for Farrow & Ball, commented: “I’m obsessed with Christopher’s use of colour; he treats it so tenderly and the result can be a beautifully tempered explosion or a slick confident splash. His lines are impeccable and you can’t help but be drawn to the exquisite quality of his pieces, whether it’s an oversized knit or finely tailored structure, which is a key reason why he felt like such a natural partner for us. It’s been incredible to work with Christopher because craft and attention to detail are intrinsic to both of our processes, so I always knew this collaboration was going to be something special.
“Carte Blanche is all about helping people find the freedom to create their own look and enjoying the process while they do it. The palette has 12 colours and for the first time, we’ve included our wallpapers in the collaboration too, which are printed with our own paint as always, but this time exclusively using the Carte Blanche colours. Whether your scheme leads with colour, neutrals or pattern, there are so many possibilities and I’m excited to see how people bring it life in their homes.”
Christopher John Rogers commented: “Colors, and the feelings that I get from them, are always my starting point when working, so when Farrow & Ball reached out regarding the collaboration, it seemed like the most natural fit. With their emphasis on quality and longevity, and my emphasis on artful, declarative design, I think this partnership has created something incredibly exciting by mining the space between both feelings. I’m so excited for people to be able to access these paints and papers!”
Carte Blanche brings together the best of heritage and modernity, combining classic inspiration and the traditional techniques Farrow & Ball has perfected over 75 years with an unexpected twist, for a timeless look that delights this season and many more.
