Muriwai. Roll this unfamiliar collection of letters over your tongue and it sounds truly exotic, a word fitting for a stretch of pristine sand on the shores of an island that sits in the South Pacific. This beach and shoreline is where McLaren’s founder, Bruce McLaren, won his first hill climb race, at the wheel of an Austin Ulster.
He was so fond of this place that once Bruce and his young family moved to Great Britain and built their own dream house, it too was named after this beautiful spot in his native New Zealand.
The house was painted white with deep blue shutters – and it is this striking combination that inspired McLaren to come up with a new exclusive colour for our current range of supercars – Muriwai White.
