Hotel Highlight, Pennyhill Park

A look inside one of Surrey’s most luxurious hotels and spa

Nestled in 123 acres of Surrey parkland, down a tree-lined drive, lies Pennyhill Park. An elegant, luxury hotel and spa in an ivy-clad country house, set just 13 miles from Windsor Castle. Originally built in c.1890 this manor house has been meticulously maintained and extended, whilst staying true to its historical look and feel, creating the ultimate luxury retreat that promises guests a chance to push the reset button. Our visit to Pennyhill Park certainly exceeded expectations. Upon arrival, we entered the reception hall, seasonally decorated with a fresh floral arch display and elegant décor. The attentive staff welcomed us warmly and escorted us to our room, where we spent the night to fully immerse ourselves in their luxurious offerings.

“Architectural Elegance and Opulent Accommodations”

From the moment you approach the ivy-clad facade, Pennyhill Park impresses with its grand Victorian architecture. The hotel boasts 124 rooms, each meticulously designed to offer not just comfort but a lavish experience. The rooms vary from plush standard rooms to opulent suites with garden views, all boasting contemporary design, fused with classic charm. For those seeking an extra touch of luxury and relaxation, several suites feature expansive bathrooms complete with double bathtubs and exclusive in-room spa facilities.

Dining at Pennyhill Park promises a gastronomic adventure that will tickle your tastebuds. The estate houses multiple dining venues, including the Michelin-starred restaurant, Latymer. Here, we indulged in an intricately designed and crafted tasting menu, prepared by skilled Head Chef Steve Smith and his team. Over a three-hour experience in their ambient restaurant setting, we explored a range of complex flavours and innovative culinary techniques, served to our table by Maître d’hôtel, with expertly recommended wine pairings from Head Sommelier, Sergio Dos Santos.

Another notable mention, for more relaxed and informal dining is Hillfield Restaurant & Bar. Guests can sit back and enjoy their emphasised ‘hyper-local’ approach to sourcing seasonal ingredients, ensuring each dish is a fresh and delightful experience. If you’re looking for the ultimate relaxed outdoor dining in the summer months, The Lily Pond terrace offers a wonderfully serene setting, with far-reaching panoramic views across the Surrey countryside. An Al-Fresco dining experience where you can enjoy dishes straight from their wood-fired oven. Available March – September (weather dependant).

Stepping into the spa at Pennyhill Park, gave us an opportunity to unwind, whilst being spoilt for choice with numerous pools, an array of thermal experiences, and over 20 treatment rooms offering bespoke treatments. As one of the largest and most luxurious spas in the UK, they have recently expanded their spa cabana experience for guests to spend the day relaxing in the comfort of their own personal haven.

Designed like a luxury hotel room brought out into the great outdoors, including their very own copper bathtub, guests can enjoy a private setting, to soak up the sun and enjoy all the spa facilities. The cabanas give guests the opportunity to indulge and relax in style. Beyond relaxation, you won’t be short of choice exploring the great outdoors at Pennyhill Park. With the grounds extending to an impressive 123 acres, the estate is perfect for outdoor activities such as cycling and walking.
