Fairmead is a small cul de sac that sits in a hugely convenient position just on the boarder of central Woking, with both the town centre and mainline railway station within walking distance. The railway station is what really puts Woking on the map, offering one of the very best commutes in the whole of the South East. It runs very frequent one-stop service straight into London Waterloo, with a journey time of around 24 minutes. Going away from London you can easily reach Portsmouth, Southampton and Bournemouth all on direct lines, or you can even take a very efficient coach service to Heathrow Airport. The town centre of Woking has been subject to somewhat of a transformation in recent years that has resulted in it taking on a far more contemporary look and feel. The Victoria Square development being the most recent addition of this, bringing a flagship M&S store and cleverly linking the previous shopping centres. At its centre is a multi-screen cinema complex and the New Victoria Theatre, with the latter being another pull for the town as its the largest house theatre outside of London and regularly receives the big names in stand up and West-End shows.
